The “Skyward” is a wonderful book, magnificent, amazingly heartfelt and fun. Brandon Sanderson is the author of this book. This is a great easy to read adventure story. Skyward is on a level with the likes of Rithmatist, Elantris and Warbreaker. Brandon Sanderson has a gift for creating characters that you cannot help but fall into. The pacing in the book is superb. The fights feel frantic, and the frustrations of the characters almost unbearable. To break up the tension, you have a cast of delightful supporting characters. Each one brings a unique counterpoint to the main character.

The main character, Spensa call sign Spin – has always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a fighter pilot. She’s done enough work to get into the academy but, the problem is, said the father has been branded a coward for running away in a fight, so her chances of getting in are slim to none. But, she has an ally. An instructor who is on her side enough to get her into his class but with many still against her, will she be able to stay the course and achieve her dream?
