Brandon Sanderson is the author of this book. The author is very detailed in describing the world the characters inhabit but even more interesting is the magic that exists in this world. It is an awesome series with an expansive world and a deep yet accessible magic system. This is a fantastic trilogy. It contains many of the standard fantasy elements you’d expect (a hero, a mentor, an all-powerful evil villain, magic, etc), but the storytelling sets this one apart.

The 2nd and 3rd books are full of twists and turn to leave you surprised how often the author gets you to think you know what’s going to happen and takes the story in a different direction. For a story with so many mysteries that leave the characters guessing the author does a great job of answering those questions for the reader. The magic system is unique and entertaining and the characters well developed. Overall each book tells a distinct story that melds together very well in the end.
