Thus, the choice by the author to make this a readable book for the average person is brilliant. Even some deniers may be convinced.
On page 24, the explanation of the term “fossil fuels” shows some lack of understanding of how fossil fuels actually originate. On the same page, is a reference to “wagon wheels” that presumes one has some exposure to the settlement of the American West in the 19th century; even with that knowledge, the size of such a wheel is extremely vague and imprecise. The reader might be tempted, instead, to think of the wheels on a small red metal vehicle with which a child might transport a sibling, pet or toy. The author later makes similar, vague comparisons to fence posts, ropes, and lost/deflated balloons. Nevertheless, the author’s comparisons to familiar objects and situations are generally very helpful in supporting the book’s exceptional readability.
