The exercises are located at the end of every chapter. The labs are located at the appendix and are to be performed as a larger project. Beyond the beginning chapters of ‘how to install python’ and ‘what are computers’, Craven likes to mix in language fundamentals with immediate applications where the student can get their feet wet and practice their newly acquired repertoire. The idea of functions arrives in Chapter 9, at which point flow control have been introduced. Furthermore, object orientation, exceptions, a small section on search, recursion as well as file io, string formatting and other topics one would find in an introduction to computer science text are availed.
