Description of I Thought It Was Just Me by Brene Brown ePub

“I Thought It Was Just Me: Women Reclaiming Power and Courage in a Culture of Shame” is a fantastic and brilliant book for anyone who thinks they are the only one who feels shame, embarrassment and self-doubt at times. Brene Brown is the author of this wonderful book. Brene is amazing and this book is a great place to start. Brown is fantastic in explaining the human psyche relating to man-made religion you also learn more about yourself while reading what she puts out. Brene’s great strength is in presenting life-changing ideas about psychology and social relationships that are solidly researched but very easy to read and understand. Give it a read or get the audible version. Brene is so smart but most of all committed as a human being to honestly helping us (herself included) to discover how we can grow and learn to be people who care. She teaches us that as people who care about ourselves we develop empathy with those we are connected with. She calls it like it is, she is so honest and gentle at the same time.  If you think you know everything about human nature and how the interaction between people works, this book will prove that you don’t know as much as you thought. Brown puts her whole heart into every word that she writes. If anyone out there is embarking on a journey of self-discovery, or if they have already begun one, this book may help you see some tough personal issues more clearly. Brene is a super author and therapist especially in the areas of looking at the guilt and shame in your life and where it comes from. The book’s information is valuable to anyone – parents, teachers, coaches, grandparents and anyone dealing with mental health issues or low self-esteem. Written more towards women but the information is applicable to anyone. It is a very good book and informative about how shame plays in every component of our lives. It includes even what we experience in our bodies due to shame. She includes examples to understand each concept better.

I Thought It Was Just Me by Brene Brown

This is a book for anyone who wonders why they have not or choose not to make changes and what gets in their way. Brene backs up her beliefs with hands-on research and a good dose of humility and humor. It is a self-help book that reminds us we can’t do it without support and connection. This is an incredible book about a little-discussed subject shame. Almost painful even to think about, the book comprehensively covers the relationship between women and shame. If you are a woman in America, you should read this book. The subtitle of the book is “Women Reclaiming Power and Courage in a Culture of Shame”. The book does not simply diagnose the problem with our culture, but assists women on their individual journey of processing their experiences with shame, and overcoming damage, moving to a better place of power and courage. Apparently there are currently many shame researchers, but not much has been written about the latest research outside of academic circles. “I Thought It Was Just Me”, through research-based, is written for each of us, academic or non-academic, feminist or non-feminist, religious or non-religious, in an approachable, interesting style.  The author also discusses changing our culture, one person at a time, with the last chapters addressing how to practice courage, compassion, and connection in a culture of fear, blame, and disconnection.
