The “Calendar Girl” is all about lesbian romance. Georgia Beers is the author of this book. The book starts out with the emphasis on Katie’s personal life helping her mom take care of her dad, who is slipping ever deeper into dementia. Somewhere around the half-way mark, Katie’s home life takes a back seat as the emphasis turns to her forbidden romance with her boss. While Beers’ readers know how the book will progress right down to the ending, there are some moments that surprise and amuse, one such moment in this book is when Addison is introduced to a trio of baby goats, and the stoic, stern Addison falls apart at their cuteness.

The book is around a main character that is literally working herself to an early grave and the other main character that is doing everything she can to help her parents with caregiver needs. As usual Ms. Beers gives the main characters great depth and the supporting characters charm. There is some ‘heavy’ parts to the book around Katie’s father, but Ms. Beers does a wonderful job around compassion and understanding of what is going on with him either she did great research or she has some person experience with this type of infliction. In short, it is a great ice queen story with depth and layers that a lot of readers will relate to family, responsibility, obligations.
