Description of Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman PDF
The “Britt-Marie Was Here: A Novel” is quite a simple story of a woman late in life experiencing herself as might a teenager for the first time. Fredrik Backman is the author of this book. It is a charming story of a woman who seems irrelevant in society. This is a novel about a very lonely, lost woman. It is a heartwarming story of a woman striking out on her own after being a faithful, dutiful wife. The book has great characters with lots of funny moments. When Britt-Marie walks out on her cheating husband and has to fend for herself in the miserable backwater town of Borg of which the kindest thing one can say is that it has a road going through it she finds work as the caretaker of a soon-to-be-demolished recreation centre.
The fastidious Britt-Marie soon finds herself being drawn into the daily doings of her fellow citizens, an odd assortment of miscreants, drunkards, lay bouts. Most alarming of all, she’s given the impossible task of leading the supremely untalented children’s soccer team to victory. Backman’s mastery of language creates irony in a charming way. His attention to detail and description of character’s seemingly trifling daily routines reveal complexities borne of the life experiences that have shaped each character. In short, this novel is a charming, hopeful celebration of the human spirit.
