Description of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

“And Then There Were None” is a classic novel to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries or thrillers. Agatha Christie is the author of this beautiful and awesome novel. This is one of Christie’s most famous novels, and one of the best-selling novels of all time, having sold in excess of 100 million copies. It is beautifully constructed and maintains a strong sense of tension throughout. It is a stark novel, using the isolation of the ten individuals on the island very effectively, which contrasts with the more comfortable feel of those of the author’s novels where an outsider, usually either Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple, solves the murder in question. This one eminently deserves its high reputation. This book is a masterpiece, impeccably written, with a complex, fascinating plot. A group of 10 people from a variety of backgrounds are sent invitations to spend a week at an island retreat where they are murdered one by one. The murderer has damning knowledge on the guests, who have each themselves been involved in a murder or in circumstances that resulted in the deaths of innocent people.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Although suspicion may have attached itself to a guest, in all cases there is a lack of enough evidence to successfully prosecute. The book describes the horror experienced by the guests as they are poisoned, pushed off a cliff, smashed in the head, shot, and driven to suicide by hanging. The murders coincide with a poem displayed in each guest’s room that relates the demise one by one of a group of soldiers, starting with 10 and ending with none. The plot is brilliantly conceived. The fear displayed by the guests is palpable as they try desperately to find out which of them is the murderer and how they can escape their terrible doom. The plot is a thrilling mystery with a very satisfying and cunning ending. This is a very punchily written book, with lots of dialogue that one can speed through quickly. This is a fast and furious read and is highly recommended for Christie and general crime fans. Lastly, the entire book and murder are psychotic, but in an intriguing way.
