This book is filled with so many excellent ideas and great photos for visual inspiration. Text is an easy read, you will enjoy. Absolutely stunning cover and the contents are just as engaging. This book is beautifully produced with many high-quality photos and good text. This book is a must-read/must-see for anyone who loves a space called “Home”.
Gates designs homes for a living and lived in five of the homes she designed. She intertwines tips for designing your personal space whether an apartment, condominium or house with a personal memoir of starting her design adventure. The chapters coincide with each room of any abode that includes The Entry, Living Room, Kitchen, Family Room, Dining Room, Nursery, Office, Outdoor and Sun Rooms, Bathrooms, Bedrooms, and even a chapter on Closets. Each chapter includes crisp before and after photographs of the home area, you are designing and ‘Define Your Style’ section to determine whether your style is a new country or eclectic amongst others. Erin ‘dares you to add drama’ in choosing paint, wallpaper, or textiles as she shares her story of locating and decorating a home of her own with all the problems that can happen. Included is ’10 Great Housewarming Gifts’ for your consideration when shopping for a gift and in the ‘Kitchen’ chapter there are a few recipes to break in your newly decorated eating area. Finally, Erin shares ten tips for bloggers either old or new on the organization of your blog and blog posts leaving no stone unturned including the Design Resource Guide at the end.
