Description of Beastie Boys Book by Michael Diamond ePub

“Beastie Boys Book” is a fantastic book -written from the perspective of the two surviving members it includes personal vignettes from the group’s childhood to the release of all their albums. Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz are the authors of this awesome and beautiful book. This is a book that has so much energy that it’s easy to get through several chapters in one sitting. Adam and Michael give the reader not only some punk rock history but the history of the 80s itself while telling their story as the musical group known as the Beastie Boys. If you are a big-time, Beastie Boys enthusiast, then you can’t miss out on Beastie Boys Book, which is co-written by Beastie Boy members Diamond (Mike D) and Horovitz (AD-ROCK). In addition to colorful stories from the two remaining living members, Beastie Boys Book also features contributions from others including Luc Sante (“Beastie Revolution”), Blake and Jonathan Lethem (“White Boy Bouillabaisse”), and Colson Whitehead (Oral history of “Cookie Puss”). An extensive, in-depth book, Mike and Adam detail a variety of experiences in the band from beginning to end. Horovitz kicks things off with an intro, “Wild Card,” where he speaks on behalf of the late, great Adam Yaunch.

Horowitz and Diamond both detail their punk beginnings and how they transformed into rappers. Referencing cassette tapes, Horovitz drops a memorable quote about how he would have loved having an iPhone back in those days. Horovitz also drops another written gem with “Something Kind of like a Virgin,” which discusses the band opening up for Madonna in 1985. Focusing on the aforementioned guest highlights, Luc Sante delivers a captivating detailed write-up about the New York music scene (“Beastie Revolution”), while Blake and Jonathan Lethem focus on the history of white rappers on “White Boy Bouillabaisse (An Archaeology).” Time is devoted to “Cookie Puss,” so author Colson Whitehead’s oral history is a fitting addition. Besides articles and essays written by Beastie Boys and the respective guests, there are also numerous photos, drawings, pictures of notes, comic strips, lyrics, and etc. All in all, Beastie Boys Book is a must-have for those who totally Stan for the band.
